First let's start with the basics: What is an Apple ID ?

An Apple ID is an Apple account that you need to create in order to download apps from the App Store. Creating the account is free of charge, so you won't be charged with anything. There are specific apps in App Store that you can buy, but that is not mandatory.

To create an Apple ID, you first need to open the Settings app. On the top of the page you will find "Apple Account". Tap the Apple Account section and another section will show up. Here you need to select "Don't have an Apple Account ?" which will start the Apple ID creation.

• Step 1: Age Range

Scroll down and make sure to select "Adult" from the beginning. First Name and Last Name aren't important so you can choose anything you like, just make sure you're typing letters, because typing numbers won't let you create the Apple ID. More important on this page is the Birthday section in which you have to select a birth year that proves you're 18 or older.

So for example: If we're creating an Apple ID on December 18th 2025, the Birthday you select needs to be 18th December 2007 or older. If we select 19th December 2007, Apple will automatically think we're under 18 and will ask for parent's or legal guardian's email address, and also will lock the "Adult" Apple ID creation for a period of time which is not exactly determined. So because no one wants to waste precious time, please make sure you're following these exact steps.

• Step 2: Email Address

First turn off "Announcements". The easiest and fastest way to go through this section is to select "Don't have an email address ?". After tapping the button, a pop-up will show up in which you need to tap "Get an iCloud Email Address". In this window you will create an iCloud email address which isn't important at all, so you can create any email address you can think of.

After creating the email address, the most important part of this step is the password. On the next page you will need to create a password which we recommend writing down somewhere, it doesn't matter where, just keep it somewhere where you can access it later because you will need it in order to download apps from the App Store.

When creating the password, for privacy reasons, the keyboard won't show, neither the dots that represent the password, but don't worry, what you're typing is in there. It would be easier if you use the "Text Input" section in ALI, that way you're making sure you don't type the password wrong. So you write the password you want in the "Text Input" window, tap the password field on the iPhone screen, and then click "Send" from the "Text Input" section in ALI. Do the same for confirming the password, and go to the next page.

• Step 3: Phone Number

In this section you need to choose a phone number for verification. Apple will send a SMS to that phone number containing a 6 digit code which you will need to type on the ALI iPhone. If you chose a Mobile Data Plan for your iPhone, the easiest way to go through this section is to enter the phone number assigned to your phone.

Mobile Data Plan way: You select Romania +40 (Romania) and type the phone number in the window located underneath the Country Code. The phone number that you type in there has to start with "7".

USA SIM way: If you didn't choose Mobile Data for your iPhone and you have an USA SIM installed, you repeat the process, but you select +1 (United States) in the country code and underneath you type your phone number without the +1 which you selected earlier.

No SIM way: If you don't have a Romanian or USA SIM installed in your iPhone, you can choose to enter any phone number that you have access to.

Select Verify Using: Text Message, in order for you to get the SMS from Apple. After receiving the SMS, enter the 6 digit code which we talked about earlier and you're good to go.

After this section you will get Signed In your Apple account.

Installing apps from Apple Store

Now that we're done with the Apple ID creation and we can go ahead and download apps from App Store.

First open App Store on your iPhone, search the app you want to install and tap install on the right side. A pop-up will show in which you have to tap "Install" again. The first app you're installing will ask for your Apple ID password, that's why you should keep it handy at all times. Enter your Apple ID password and confirm it if it asks you to. Before the app starts downloading you will get a pop-up in which you have to tap "Require after 15 minutes".

I recommend installing 2 apps for the first time after creating the Apple ID and I'll explain you why. Try downloading the 2nd app in that 15 minutes period which you selected earlier. When installing the second app, you will get another pop-up asking you if you want to save your Apple ID password for free items. Here you will select yes, that way anytime you want to download a new free app from App Store you won't need to type your password again.

In special cases App Store will tell you that you're not on iTunes, and need to write some information about your location. Here you choose a random USA address like "5th Avenue 20", New York. For ZIP code enter 10012, and in the Phone Number section 1234567890. After providing this information in iTunes you can go ahead and start installing apps.
